Mango Lassi

Lassi is a yogurt based drink very popular in the Indian subcontinent. During the summer days, this soothing drink has a great cooling effect on our tongue and stomach. Lassi comes in many variations, starting from plain sweet lassi to various flavoured and fruit based ones. So this mango season I felt it impertinent to share one of the most popular and delicious variant, “Mango Lassi”.

This particular type of lassi is prepared by blending fresh or frozen ripe mango cubes with chilled yogurt/ curd and lightly spiced with cardamom or saffron. The recipe is very simple and is a perfect sumptuous summer drink.

Here I have used Alphonso mangoes, but you can use any nicely ripened mango but it should be low in fibre, that way the lassi is smoother and creamier. Also to thin it down and to get the desired consistency, I have added some milk. So this summer, chill with this delectable ‘Mango Lassi’.
